Some people feel that once a person is older they no longer require their assets.  This mislead viewpoint thinks it is fine to being to use the older person’s assets because they will pass away before the assets are required.  Often this perspective is held by individuals who will inherit the remaining assets.  They feel that their current need for money is more important than the wishes of the asset owner.  In order to be prepared for this person you need to ask yourself some hard questions such as:

  • Who may be staking claim against your assets?
  • What are the signs of this sense of entitlement?
  • Who can help with this situation?

This is an increasing concern for our aging population – especially within families.  You need to make it clear that as the owner of your assets you retain the final decision on their use.
